The Inns of Court Malaysia (ICM) takes great pride in announcing the commencement of its Marshalling Programme, specially tailored for final year law students, recent law graduates, those who have completed their Certificate of Legal Practice (CLP), and those who have completed their BPTC in United Kingdom in one of the Inns of Court in England. Applicants should not have commenced their pupillage/chambering in Malaysia.
The placement under Honourable Judges in Malaysia for a period of one month is an invaluable experience for students to gain exposure in court procedures. In line with the aims and objectives of ICM and similar to the Marshalling Scheme organised by the Inns of Court in UK, Marshalling is designed to enrich and enhance the understanding of students’ life at the Bar, and offers a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between law school and practice. Students can better appreciate the “do’s and the dont’s” of advocacy and in court. Students are able to have a glimpse behind the scenes of a Judge’s chambers and courtroom, in addition to experiencing the impact of law through the Judge’s decision-making. Students are able to appreciate and have a better understanding of the whole judicial process from the perspective of a Judge. For the benefit of the legal profession as a whole, the Marshalling Programme strives to enhance the standards of the young members entering the profession, and to ensure the continuity of a dynamic, articulate and highly competent legal profession in Malaysia.
