On 12thDecember 2017, a crowd of over 200 people consisting of the President of ICM, Chief Justice of Malaysia, President of the Court of Appeal, Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak, the Honourable Judges from Federal Court, Court of Appeal, High Court, Judicial Commissioners, Chief Registrar, Judicial and Legal officers from Chief Registrar’s office, Tun Michael Chen, reputable senior practitioners, Deans of Law faculties, academicians, preferred partners as well as our very own ICM esteemed members gathered at the magnificent ballroom in the Palace of Justice for the ICM 2017 Year-end Gathering.
The event started with welcome remarks by the master of ceremonies Tuan Mohd. Sabri bin Othman, followed by bacaan doa. President of ICM then addressed the guests with the Welcome Address. A notable moment of pride for ICM is the presentation of ICM membership card by YABhg. Tun Arifin Zakariato YAA Tun Dato’ Seri Md. Raus Sharif and from YABhg. Tun Dato’ Seri Md. Raus Sharif to YABhg. Tun Arifin Zakaria. The ICM President’s card is 00001 and Deputy ICM President’s card is 00002 respectively.
It marks a double jubilation for the collaborations of Inns of Court Malaysia (ICM) with 2 renowned academic institutions, namely International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and KDU University College (KDU) when the respective Memorandum of Agreement was inked at the Grand Ballroom Palace of Justice, Putrajaya.
This new chapter is hoped to bring more opportunities for IIUM and KDU law graduates to venture into the real industry as they form a new direct linkage with ICM, a professional body comprising of legal practitioners and judicial members from all seniority. These collaborations are in line with the objectives of ICM in promoting legal development by organising events, training and programs for significant educational experiences and development of legal skills to improve and enhance the abilities of its members.
The celebrated collaboration with IIUM was sealed in a signing ceremony represented by the President of ICM, YABhg. Tun Arifin Zakaria and the Rector of IIUM, Professor Dato’ Sri Dr Zaleha Kamarudin, witnessed by the Deputy Rector (Internationalisation & Global Network) of IIUM Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Berghout, For KDU, the Memorandum of Agreement was signed by the President of ICM, YABhg. Tun Arifin and KDU’s Deputy Vice Chancellor – Academic, Assoc. Professor Dr. Hon Wei Min witnessed by KDU’s Head of School of Law Ms. Evon Lim Ee Teng. The solemnisation of event was witnessed by the Chief Justice of Malaysia YAA Tun Dato’ Seri Md. Raus Sharif, the Hon. Treasurer of ICM YA Tuan Nantha Balan and Hon. Secretary of ICM Ms. Ooi Suan Kim.
It is envisaged that the collaborations of ICM with the 2 renowned academic institutions will promote interaction and collegiality among all legal professional to facilitate the development and mentoring of law students as skilled participants in the Malaysian court system.

Complimenting and concluding the evening was the entertainment ICM specially chereographed for its honourable guests and members. The live wind ensemble, piano and vocal performances surrounded the Grand Ballroom with the aesthetic sound of music and impressed the floor with their artful stylistic expression. Guests were dazzled in the beauty of music, and the event ended at approximately 6.30pm.
