Receiving this honour as a B
encher is both a privilege and a profound reminder of the enduring values that define the legal profession. The law is more than statutes and precedents; it is ultimately about people, justice, and conscience. Throughout a career that has spanned legal practice, the legislature, the executive, and now the Judiciary, one lesson has remained constant: integrity, humility, and service must always guide those entrusted with the law.
The greatest lawyers are not distinguished merely by their knowledge of legal principles, but by their ability to understand people, seek the truth with diligence, and exercise sound judgment with compassion. As we celebrate a decade of the Inns of Court Malaysia, we also celebrate a shared commitment to mentorship, collegiality, and the preservation of the highest ethical standards for future generations of the Malaysian legal fraternity.
May we continue to strengthen the rule of law, uphold judicial independence, and ensure that the profession remains worthy of the trust placed in it by society.
